On Fear and Love: Energy States

Fear and Love – Basics
In this blog, we want to provide a more fundamental discussion of fear and love. First, they are not emotions as you might think, rather they are states of energy. We express energy either fearfully or lovingly. When we experience fear or love energy, emotions are expressed as thoughts, words or actions.
You can imagine this energy by thinking about it as an oscillation (going back and forth) between whether you’re experiencing fear energy or love energy in the moment. Another construct sees them as energy states, with fear being the lowest state, because fear restricts and confines your energy, preventing it from going out from you. As those restrictions lift and the energy is manifested, you find yourself rising to a more loving state.
Ben said that some people want to figure out which energy comes first which is fun from an academic and philosophical standpoint, but functionally useless. It’s like debating the chicken and egg question, these conversations can be very engaging. We are taking a functional approach in this blog. We teach about energy and movement of energy, about the expression of energy and how those states (fearing or loving) constrict or release the flow of energy.
To understand which energy source (a force of energy) is operating, you can identify emotions related to that energy source. Lynn likes to help people become more aware of how their feelings represent one of those energy forces and understand feelings in a way that you can identify what created it (the feeling, thought, belief or expectation). This brings your awareness to a level where you have the ability to change the energy source, and thus the emotion, because you are clear in your thinking or belief of how it started.
Words Matter
It's useful to think about the source of our emotions so that we can understand what created the feelings we have. Bruce Lee said,
"Don't speak negatively about yourself, even as a joke. Your body doesn't know the difference. Words are energy and they cast spells, that's why it's called spelling. Change the way you speak about yourself, and you can change your life."
How do our emotions show up in our daily lives to communicate fear and love energy? We can start by understanding some of the beliefs and expectations of the thinking that created those emotions. Lee was talking about the power that emotions (negative ones, in this case) have over our lives. When we allow that emotion to manifest in our words, we allow it to change who we are. Words matter because they create our perception of reality. Use words to communicate positive energy to have a positive effect in your life.
You Have the Power
These blogs are about empowerment and – guess what! – You already have it! We know that people are waiting and yearning for it to burst forth! We want to help you understand your power, access it within yourself and release it. Deepak Chopra writes a lot about the human body being comprised of energy and information and believes that consciousness creates reality. He said that we are not "physical machines that have somehow learned to think...[but] thoughts that have learned to create a physical machine".
Words matter because they create our perception of reality.
Creation happens twice, first in your mind then in physical form from the blueprint in your mind. Our goal is to bring these concepts to you without all the “Woo Woo” but with more of the “Oh, wow!” Humans are beings of energy but we don’t live in a fantasy world, we live in a functional world that needs practical methods of using our energy.
Let’s think about the concept of gratitude. Here is a way to understand it. The moment to start being grateful is when you have an idea, “Thank you for that thought!” That’s because the physical form is coming next, it’s on its way. The only caveat is how much you allow fear in to constrict the process. Fear slows down the transference of the creative idea from the mind to the physical.
How does fear constrict the feeling of gratitude? Often, the timing of it will make us think whether we should bring it forward, or stall it out. In that moment, you have the ability to let it see the light of day, or push it back into your mind, hidden. It’s important to know that we can’t control time, and make something happen faster, but we can drag our feet so that it never happens.
Think about working on a project team where everyone has a role in bringing a new product to the market. All the tasks assigned to team members need to be completed according to the project plan; everyone is aligned with the goal of completing the project on-time, within budget, etc. If one person withholds his or her contribution, this self-sabotage may cause the project to fail.
Planting Seeds
Lynn offered the analogy of gestation to help us understand the way time controls the process between knowing and becoming. Most of the process is out of our hands – and there are a lot of variables along the way. We may mark the day on the calendar when it begins, and have an idea of how long it should take, but as Yogi Berra said, “It ain’t over till it’s over.”
Here’s another way to think about it. Ben looked outside yesterday and thought, “I want more shade in my yard. I should plant a tree.” He envisions a lush lawn with a flower garden kissed by the sun, and a comfy spot on the other side to sit in the shade and enjoy the breeze. Naw, he reasons, it would be too much money and I don’t have time to figure all that out. That’s a lot of work and besides, I have bad soil out there. He killed the idea with negativity.
“It ain’t over till it’s over.”
What if he decided to get past that, and he finds an acorn or one of those annoying helicopter seeds from a maple tree? He picks the spot in the yard, and digs the hole, then he puts a handful of seeds in there (just in case). Next, he puts a little fence around it to keep the rabbits away, and to make sure he doesn’t run over it with the lawnmower. He looks at it every day, waters it and eagerly awaits the little sprout coming up out of the ground. Some days, he feels frustrated but then he remembers the Chinese proverb, “The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.”
The gestation is helped by all the things you’re doing to grow the tree – find the seed, dig the hole, put up a fence and watering. All the stuff that’s happening that you don’t see (growing roots, a sprout reaching up to the sun, swaying in the wind) has to come into alignment. You can trust that nature will take care of the rest of the job. It just takes time.
Ideas start with seeds in our creative mind and become reality when we take the idea, add some practical steps to a process, and follow through on our original intent. The same could be said about planting the seeds of wealth – most of us realize there’s no such thing as a money tree – and most people don’t get rich overnight. Of course, if you go to the bookstore, you’ll find lots of authors who try to influence you to believe it. We prefer the wisdom of authors like Napoleon Hill and Wallace Waddles who coached business leaders to become the type of person who attracts wealth. Hill insisted the secret was to follow the Golden Rule and stated: Anything the human mind can believe, the human mind can achieve.
